The Colorado Trust believes that In order for Coloradans in every community to thrive, all people must have a voice in the decisions that influence their well-being—especially people who have historically been marginalized or left out of such decisions.

To fulfill this vision, The Colorado Trust implemented an advocacy funding strategy, Building and Bridging Power (BBP), that aims to strengthen an organizing infrastructure and advocacy environment so that impacted community members are able to advance policy solutions addressing their most pressing issues at the local, regional and/or state levels.

The Colorado Trust has engaged Community Science to evaluate the program with the goals of accelerating the bridging and building of community power and improving its grantmaking practices.

Community science will review background data around the BBP strategy and its 23 grantee organizations design to create a framework for the next three years. The broader evaluation results are expected to be a stronger strategy and grantmaking practices for The Trust, greater shared knowledge across grantee organizations, and greater knowledge across the field around how to most effectively build and bridge community power.
