Kerlin Morales, MBA, Senior Analyst, is a mixed methods researcher who combines secondary data mining techniques with qualitative analysis to capture the nuanced experiences of the communities with whom she partners. She believes evaluation work is a powerful vehicle for informing change and creating pathways for communities to access the resources and support needed to thrive. Her research interests comprise understanding the immigrant experience, including the impact of immigration policies and the process of integration through a community development lens. As a bilingual researcher, Kerlin can connect with stakeholders in linguistically appropriate and culturally meaningful ways. She contributes greatly to data collection, analysis, and reporting activities of evaluation and research studies at Community Science.
Prior to joining Community Science, she partnered with the Transgender Institute to initiate a comprehensive redesign of the Safe Zone Training program at St. John’s University, resulting in significant student and faculty involvement. Through the Office of Multicultural Affairs at St. John’s, Kerlin led various diversity, equity, and inclusion workshops as well as mentored cohorts of students in the development of facilitation skills needed to lead difficult conversations. She was awarded St. Johns University’s R.I.S.E. Network Leader Excellence Award in recognition of her exceptional leadership and dedication to supporting Black and Latino(a) freshmen students. As a member of the highly selective Executives in Residence Program, she worked with both for-profit and non-profit organizations providing strategic advice based on extensive market research.
Kerlin holds a Master’s degree in Business Management, with an emphasis on business analytics, from St John’s University. She is a native of Hyattsville, Maryland, where she currently resides, and contributes her spare time to local community organizations and outreach. Kerlin is a professional foodie and you are likely to find her reviewing food somewhere at any given moment. She also enjoys traveling and is always in search of her next adventure.
